Holmby Hills Estate II

Los Angeles, CA

The experience of this residence begins at its unassuming, minimal concrete facade, and unfolds into a series of four pavilions, connected by a central glass hall, that comprise a sequence of serene, private spaces. The intentional pacing creates distinctive vignettes at each pavilion and breaks down the scale of the home. The massing and transparency of the volumes are designed to conceal and reveal moments of activity and to create a procession of spaces that inspire visitors to explore the home. The sight lines are designed to elongate the property, providing expansive views in each direction. A series of landscape and water features connect indoor and outdoor spaces, and basement atriums bring light to an expansive lower level.
