Blue Jay Way Residence

Los Angeles, CA

This residence turns a refined, single-story façade to the street: its substantial bronze fascia grounds the home, and 16”x16” concrete breezeblock offers delicate screening and privacy. While aesthetically assertive, it’s appropriately scaled for the neighborhood, as the bulk of the massing is staggered on the stories below. Visitors enter a two-story atrium and step down to the public spaces, which include family, living, and rec rooms, kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining areas, and an expansive grass courtyard (a rare asset for a hillside home). A pool and spa border the courtyard, and outdoor spaces on the second floor—a patio off the master bedroom, and cantilevered deck in the north wing of the home—overlook the backyard.
